Since uploading Taunting the Dead, I’ve had lots
of tweets, DM’s and emails regarding my references within the ebook to shoes.
Now as much as it won’t surprise people who know me (yes, I do go everywhere in
heels), it was also done for a purpose. I write about sex, violence and murder
but I still want to inject a little warmth, maybe humour, into my work. And what
better way than to describe, for me, one of life’s pleasures - New Shoes.
The shoe scenes are there for a number of reasons. The main
character, DS Allie Shenton, wears heels, even though in the first scene she is
hot on the tail of a murder suspect. I wanted to add a touch
of femininity to an otherwise dark and, often, nasty story. She also tries on
shoes in the book – not to talk about shoes but more to show (honestly!) that
she’s indecisive, impulsive and often misled by want, not need. Just like the
best of us.
And they do say that you put a bit of yourself into everything
you write…
Taunting the Dead is currently sitting in the #50 Amazon
Kindle best sellers. I think it’s time
to treat myself to some new heels. Well,
maybe one or two pairs are a must…

Hooray for Taunting the Dead being so high up in the charts! It's a fantastic read and I hope thousands more will buy and read it. And hooray for new shoes... I feel a shopping spree coming on! x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maria. I really can't wait for you to read it one day in paperback version rather than on A4 paper when it was in creation and we were batting ideas back and forward! And yes, London here we come! x
ReplyDeleteLovely news! Good luck with the heel hunting!
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased it's doing well, you more than deserve it. Make sure those heels are as high as can be :o)
ReplyDeleteI think Taunting the Dead is sitting a bit higher now. Congratulations!!
